NIKE DESTROYER BLACK&WHITE SERIES

Found this by accident on the web, loving the whole black & white theme. Crazy how Nike keeps reinventing their own brand! (press here for the whole series)
SHOP: The Webster Miami
What happens when you decide to build an exclusive clothing store in a former Art Deco Miami Beach Hotel and have some very good taste? Take a good look at The Webster, this insanely good looking store is located in Miami and breathes luxury.
Allthough it's obvious that this is a clothing store, the interior still feels like you're standing in a mansion, a mansion which you wish was yours.

Cool extra's are the Bar where you can drink a nice cocktail and the front terrace which allows you to talk business while the wife is spending your cash.

We will definitely give this a visit when we're in Miami(hopefully we will some day).

MUSIC VIDEO: The Weeknd - What You Need
We all know The Weeknd since his ''House Of Balloons'' blew up big time on the web but his music video of ''What You Need' was new to me. The vid takes you on a kind of voyeuristic tour through a party-trashed loft filled with beautiful models(past out and awake). The way it's filmed makes you really curious of what went down the night before. Anyway, the vid contributes to the quality of the music and for me, that's the most important feature!

MIXTAPE: Great Coachella mixtape by The Kickdrums
Found this great mixtape by The Kickdrums, all tracks played by artists who performed at Coachella 2011. Featuring artists like Kanye and Biggie but also Duran Duran and Empire of the sun, all mixed up brilliantly! Check out the tracklist and cover below.

Listen to the mixtape(and get familiar with our Arculture Facebook page) here.

SOMEPLACE : SOMETHING
SOMEPLACE : SOMETHING is a new website showing the work of contemporary photographers all over the world. Real simple, the about says it all: ''no hierarchy, no categories, no rules. One shot per post with a link to the artist site.''

It's really fun to browse all the different portfolio's, beware of the time though, before you know it's time to wake up! Check out the site here.
Insider info for the boys, check out Hadley Hudson.

DID YOU KNOW TYLER THE CREATOR COULD PLAY THE PIANO?
Yourstru.ly Presents: Tyler, the Creator from Yours Truly on Vimeo.
Who knew Tyler the Creator from OFWGKTA could actually play the piano? We certainly didn't... What's good about this vid is that it shows a much more serious side of the allways crazy and over energetic Tyler.
The overall message: do what you want to do and it will all come together. And if not, well you just tell everbody to fuck off!

ODD FUTURE ROCKS THE STAGE IN AMSTERDAM
This Queensday the not so underground anymore Odd Future Wolf Gang killed the stage at Paradiso Amsterdam. This video was shot during ''RADICALS'', it's a miracle the place is still in use.

ARTWORK: Jean-Philippe Delhomme for Maison Kitsune
For the last couple of days this video was all over the web. Offcourse I do like the innovative way of showing this new collection. Far more fun and it definitely demonstrates creativity as well.
Too bad it makes us forget what Maison Kitsune did for the SS 2011 collection: amazing artwork done by JP Delhomme. Take a good look and read the captions, simply brilliant.

When you're done you can watch the video again.

RENDEZ-VOUS AT COLETTE
This short movie came out a long time ago on Colette, but It popped back in my mind again after a friend of mine asked me to tie his tie yesterday. It's not hard to imagine why I liked it in the first place, I think it's the combination of beautiful French language, slow background music and the close up's at the end. For the educatitive people amongst us, pay attention and you can actually learn how to tie a tie!

THE KENNEDYS: Tribute to a stylish president

If you're not into this type of story, you can allways look at the clothes every character is wearing, absolutely stunning. It's easy to just watch this without any sound! Take a good look a mrs. Katie Holmes playing Jackie O, I couldn't tell the difference.

Watch the trailer here as well, it's in the next post.
Stream the whole season here

UWALL: Music Video's and nothing else
Discovered this by accident, while stumbling the web. All artists are on here, with all their music video's. So why is it better than youtube?

When I search for a official music vid on youtube, I have to dig through all of the remixes, parodies and other crap that has nothing to do with the official video. After searching for 1 minute, it's gets really annoying. When I'm on Uwall, all this stuff is gone.
The second feature of Uwall that I really like is the lyrics section. Sometimes I'm just searching on the web for lyrics, trying to better understand certain song. On Uwall, you've got a special section for this, so you can find it all.

All that's left to say is: Try it and see for yourself!

THE BLACK IVY VIDEO
The Black Ivy from Street Etiquette on Vimeo.
Just because we can, we're posting The Black Ivy video as well. If you weren't persuaded already, you'll probably never will be. Everything what's good about the shoot was captured on film as well, 3 minutes of style.

TRUE INSPRIATION: The Black Ivy
Everybody gets their inspiration from somewhere else. The Stones recorded the best songs while being on all kinds of dope, Mark began something big after fucking up a date and Frank started his business after the death of his boss.

So what inspired us to build Arculture? Why have we been sitting in this office for the past 6 months trying to create something we think is innovative, cool and a contribution to what's out there already?
A big thing for us was this project by Street Etiquette, Unabashedly Prep and The Bkc. There's just someting about these shots, better than we've ever seen before. Obviously, the featured looks are sick but it's just the whole setting that does it. Even the music that comes with the slideshow contributes to the overall vibe. If a couple of guys from Brooklyn could do all this, we were definitely capable of building a new clothing inspired website! As a matter of fact, we're just college kids as well.

Check out the whole slideshow here. The next post will contain The Black Ivy video, that's how much we like it!

JAY-Z: LIFE + TIMES
Jay-Z "Life + Time" from Team OnSMASH on Vimeo.
Jay-Z just came out with his new online magazine called Life + Times. The mag covers a wide range of topics such as Style, Leisure, Technology and Music. First opinion: the site design looks great, Jay-Z is great, Jay's business ideas are allways great, this site is gonna blow up.
But i'm gonna do something here i've never done before: criticize something that involves Jay. At first sight the site looks great, but the problem is: by only using pictures to indicate a post, it's never clear if a post is new or not. So when you visit the site a couple times, you've got to remember which picture you've allready clicked on.
Second point of criticism: the wide range of topics. Let's just go all out on this one, Life + Times covers Style, Leisure, Art&Design, Tech, Music, Sports, and a Jay section. Sounds like a lot right? I personally like single topic website or blogs so I can see all the new things regarding a certain topic and pick whatever I want to read. Like thenextweb when I'm going geek and the coolhunter for Art&Design.
Maybe this is just my point of view and do you like it when someone selects stories for you. Don't get us wrong, we definitely like the site, it's just some minor stuff. Make up your own mind about it!
Watch the launch vid and check Life + Times

THEOPHILUS LONDON: CENTURY GIRL
CENTURY GIRL feat. Devonte Hynes from Theophilus London on Vimeo.
I've liked Theophilus since we first saw the ''Flying Overseas'' video. The combination of a summer tune, nice beach, pendleton shirt, moscot shades and straw hats never felt so good.
In this new vid called ''Century Girls'' the moscot shades and the hat are making a strong comeback appearance. So what do I especially like about it? Definitely the tune which is great, the outfits and overall vibe of the video is put brilliantly together as well. The whole vid looks like a day in the life, shot with a low quality cam. A life filled with awsomeness that is.
Just for the sake of bitching: please cast hot girls next time, we didn't like Liz Lee and Cristina Curry. I know you can do better TL!
